The Udall Eagles lost against the Argonia Red Raiders back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Udall was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 39-38 to Argonia. Udall has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Udall still got an impressive performance from Isaac Johnson, who scored 21 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Jenson Harness, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Argonia found their leader in underclassman Carson Vineyard, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. Filippo Leonardi was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six rebounds.
Udall bumped their record down to 2-6 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. As for Argonia, their victory bumped their record up to 3-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Udall will take on Bluestem on Monday. Bluestem is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak. Argonia on the road again on Tuesday and play against Oxford at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th. Oxford presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Argonia in Kansas (Oxford is ranked 73rd, while Argonia is ranked 288th).
