Venture Academy had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.9 runs) and they went ahead and made it nine on Friday. They put the hurt on the River Islands Riptide with a sharp 11-1 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 5-4 last Monday.
David Mays was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Dillon Gouker was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.
Venture Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as River Islands only posted an OBP of .235.
Venture Academy's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for River Islands, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-4.
