After both having extra time off, the Memorial Roughriders and the Napoleon Wildcats will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Last Tuesday, Memorial came up short against Elida and fell 3-1. The Roughriders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.
While Memorial ultimately came up short, they really made Elida work, particularly in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 29-27, 25-16, 17-25, 25-21.
Meanwhile, Napoleon came up short against Ross on Thursday, falling 3-0. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Little Giants recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.
The final score came out to 25-16, 25-7, 25-10.
Memorial's loss dropped their record down to 8-14. As for Napoleon, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-16.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's matchup: Memorial has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 8.9 aces per game. However, it's not like Napoleon struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.4 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Memorial was able to grind out a solid victory over Napoleon when the teams last played back in October of 2022, winning 3-1. Do the Roughriders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
