Basketball Recap: St. Anthony's Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

St. Anthony put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against the Hempstead Tigers as the St. Anthony's Friars made off with a 70-47 win. Fans of the Friars have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. Anthony's to victory, but perhaps none more so than Connor Mannix, who went 10 for 16 on his way to 24 points and six rebounds. The game was Mannix's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kevin Moore, who posted eight points in addition to nine boards and five assists.

St. Anthony's smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

St. Anthony's victory bumped their record up to 3-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Anthony's will welcome St. John's Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Hempstead, they will host Freeport at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
