After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Kings Christian, the Riverdale Christian Ambassadors were happy to have found some success on Monday. They managed a 38-34 win over Laton. The score was all tied up 14-14 at the break, but Riverdale Christian was the better team in the second half.
Riverdale Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Calvin Bohannan, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. Aaron Norris was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Despite the loss, Laton still got an impressive performance from Mario Chavez, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds. It was the first time this season that Chavez pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Yann Jimenez, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds.
The victory got Riverdale Christian back to even at 6-6. As for Laton, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-15.
Riverdale Christian will head out on the road to challenge Liberty at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Liberty has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Laton, they will head out on the road to face off against Alpaugh at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Laton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Monday.
