DCIAA - Stripes recap October 8, 2013
Phelps Architecture, Construction & Engineering was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from third to first in DCIAA - Stripes. Earlier in the week, the Panthers triumphed over Cardozo 48-0.
McKinley Tech took down Eastern 54-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Kenneth Matthews threw for 135 yards and 2 touchdowns during the win.
The Trainers' offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Shaquante Simms chipped in 101 yards. Zack Denney helped McKinley Tech's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 26 yards.
McKinley Tech's dynamic duo of Matthews and Patrick Johnson II proved to be unstoppable against the Ramblers, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Denney helped McKinley Tech's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 26 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Eastern's Ora Moore and Jerome Johnson have proven to be a lethal combination. 5-10 quarterback Moore has thrown for 705 yards this season, while Johnson has 12 catches for 231 yards. Alimamy Kallay's team's Danzel Brown leads the league in rushing yards with 263.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Phelps Architecture, Construction & Engineering takes on second place Eastern.
The Trainers made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 10,047 from 10,622. The improvement was largely due to a 54-0 victory over Jason Strickland's team last week.
