Mountain Valley recap November 19, 2013
Citrus Valley scaled the state rankings by moving to 405 from 493 this week, the biggest jump in Mountain Valley. The Blackhawks climbed the ranks as a result of topping Fillmore 41-14.
Jurupa Hills extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Arrowhead Christian, 55-41. This was the team's ninth consecutive win.
Jurupa Hills' dynamic duo of Damion Wright and Christian Steele proved to be unstoppable against the Eagles, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Wright threw for 163 yards and 2 touchdowns and Steele had 61 yards receiving. Derrick Spearmon helped Jurupa Hills' passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 41 yards.
Frank Saucedo provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Edward Mcmillon's team beat Arrowhead Christian. Saucedo's key target this week was Steele, who caught 2 passes for 61 yards.
Jamie Taylor was a beast in the backfield as Rim of the World bested Linfield Christian.
Notre Dame's Paul Bradvica and Anthony McMaster have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 5-10 quarterback Bradvica has thrown for 2,249 yards this season, while McMaster has 38 catches for 647 yards. Taylor from the Fighting Scots leads the league in rushing with 2,218 yards.
Citrus Valley's Brett Kokesh is a mere 41 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. In 124 carries Kokesh has put up 959 yards this year.
Going into this week's game against Shadow Hills, the Spartans' Wright needs 7 passing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season. So far this year, Wright has thrown for 1,993 yards with 18 touchdowns and 6 interceptions.
Rim of the World and the Lions played the most contested game in Mountain Valley this week, with Rim of the World eventually emerging with a 38-37 victory. Taylor ran for 310 yards and caught 1 pass for 14 yards in the win.
