Encina Prep is on a six-game streak of home wins, while the Cardinals are on a seven-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Encina Prep Bulldogs will take on the Woodland Christian Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Encina Prep knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 18 contests -- so hopefully the Cardinals likes a good challenge.
Encina Prep scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 92-73 victory over Delta. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Encina Prep got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Phillip Worsham out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 24 points and nine assists. Worsham is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last eight games he's played. Adrian Grace was another key contributor, scoring 22 points.
In what's become a running theme this season, Woodland Christian gave their fans yet another huge victory on Wednesday. They blew past Woodland 74-53.
Woodland Christian found their leader in underclassman Romello Bruhn, who scored 25 points along with five rebounds and two steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which Bruhn has scored at least a third of Woodland Christian's points. Another player making a difference was Tanner Thomas, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
Encina Prep's win bumped their record up to 14-5. As for Woodland Christian, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 17-6.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the pair are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Encina Prep hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 70.9 points per game. However, it's not like Woodland Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 67.5 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Encina Prep might still be hurting after the 82-59 loss they got from the Cardinals when the teams last played back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Bruhn, who dropped a double-double on 34 points and ten rebounds. Now that Encina Prep knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
