The Excel Panthers and the Montgomery Academy Eagles squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but sadly the Excel Panthers had to settle for second. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 73-52 walloping at the hands of the Eagles. Excel was down 64-43 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Skyler Stovall was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 31 points and 14 rebounds for Montgomery Academy. Stovall has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 13 times he's played. Another player making a difference was D.j. Vinson, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds.
Excel's defeat dropped their record down to 13-5. As for Montgomery Academy, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 24-7.
Excel does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Montgomery Academy also has no future games currently scheduled.
