Kuna hasn't had much luck against Mountain View recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Kavemen will venture away from home to take on the Mavericks at 6:30 p.m.
Kuna came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Middleton, falling 12-0.
Kuna saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Rasmussen, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Mountain View faced Eagle in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Mavericks put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 12-1 victory. The Mavericks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.
Owen Perry spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits.
On the hitting side, Mountain View let Seth Hecox and Preston Flournoy run wild. Hecox went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Flournoy went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Flournoy has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Cooper Schneidt, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Mountain View kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive contests.
Mountain View's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-8. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Kuna, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-11.
Kuna couldn't quite get it done against Mountain View when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 4-1. Can the Kavemen avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
