The Academy for Innovative Education Aviators lost against the Mater Academy Bay Rays back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Academy for Innovative Education suffered a tough 49-24 defeat at the hands of the Rays. Academy for Innovative Education was down 42-14 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Samantha Ayerdis and Alexa Garofalo certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Ayerdis almost dropped a triple-double on 11 points, nine rebounds, and nine steals, while Garofalo scored two points along with 20 rebounds and three steals. Ayerdis has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jazmin Grullon, who scored four points along with three steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Academy for Innovative Education and nudges their season record down to 7-6. As for Mater Academy Bay, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 12-3.
Academy for Innovative Education will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Stallions at 4:00 p.m. Mater Academy Bay does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
