Even though the Washburn Pirates scored an imposing 65 points on Tuesday, the Unaka Rangers still came out on top. Unaka walked away with a 78-65 victory over Washburn. The win made it back-to-back wins for Unaka.
Several Pirates players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Matthew Harville, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Harville scored a full 27.7% of Washburn's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Billy Jo Wolfenbarger was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
Unaka's win bumped their record up to 6-10. As for Washburn, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Unaka will take on University at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. University presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Unaka in Tennessee (University is ranked 101st, while Unaka is ranked 359th). As for Washburn, they will head out on the road to face off against Cosby at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
