Lincoln is 9-1 against Balboa since November of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Lincoln Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Balboa Buccaneers at 2:00 p.m. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Saturday, Lincoln got themselves on the board against Galileo, but Galileo never followed suit. They blew past the Lions 56-0 at home. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Lincoln.
Jamelle Newman was a one-man wrecking crew for Lincoln as he rushed for 155 yards and four touchdowns on only nine carries. Newman is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last four games he's played. MICHAEL WASHINGTON and his 85 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Lincoln's victory.
Lincoln's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Leading the way was LAZARUS TUALALI and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, Balboa had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Mission 30-0 on the road.
Lincoln has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 3-3 record this season. As for Balboa, their victory on Friday also bumped their record up to an identical 3-3.
Everything came up roses for Lincoln against Balboa when the teams last played back in November of 2022 as the team secured a 44-7 victory. Does Lincoln have another victory up their sleeve, or will Balboa turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
