The Flanagan-Cornell Falcons's game on Tuesday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They breezed by Tri-Point at home to the tune of 53-17. The team ran away with 42 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those to pick up the win.
It was another big night for Kesler Collins, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. The match was his 11th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Reed, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.
Flanagan-Cornell is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Tri-Point, their loss was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-14.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Flanagan-Cornell won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Roanoke-Benson at 7:00 p.m. on December 22nd. Roanoke-Benson will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 541st, while Flanagan-Cornell is ranked 188th). Tri-Point will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Lexington at 7:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024.
