The Notre Dame-Green Pond Crusaders waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with five straight wins but they left with six. They took down Saucon Valley 57-39. Given Notre Dame-Green Pond's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 113th, while the Panthers are ranked 358th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Saucon Valley's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Adam Clark, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Constantine Donahue, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Notre Dame-Green Pond pushed their record up to 14-2 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.8 points per game. As for Saucon Valley, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-7.
Notre Dame-Green Pond will head out on the road to face off against the Green Knights at 12:45 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Pen Argyl focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Thursday. As for Saucon Valley, they will be playing at home against the Slaters at 12:45 p.m. on Saturday.
