The Taos Tigers will face off against the Pojoaque Valley Elks/Elkettes at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Taos has given up an average of 14.8 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Taos was handed a 15-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Espanola Valley, sneaking past 14-12. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Sundevils recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

The team relied heavily on Celina Shropshire, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and four RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mo Jeantete, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4.
Meanwhile, Pojoaque Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against Moriarty, falling 15-6. Lauren Salazar was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Izabella Lujan was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Wednesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Taos has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .508. However, it's not like Pojoaque Valley struggles in that department as they've averaged .460. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Taos suffered a grim 16-6 defeat to Pojoaque Valley in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
