Iroquois is on a nine-game streak of home losses (dating back to last season), Maplewood a seven-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. The Iroquois Braves will be home for the holidays to greet the Maplewood Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Friday, Iroquois was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 45-44 to Saegertown. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Iroquois has scored all season.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Orlando Brown, who scored 15 points. That's the first time this season that he scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Kellen Burroughs, who scored eight points along with 17 rebounds and seven blocks.
Meanwhile, Maplewood took a serious blow against Corry on Friday, falling 60-29. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Maplewood in their matchups with Corry: they've now lost three in a row.
Iroquois now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Maplewood, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.
Iroquois came up short against Maplewood in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, falling 43-37. Can Iroquois avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
