Baseball Recap: Salesian College Preparatory Takes a Loss

Salesian College Preparatory was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss. They lost 14-2 to the Pinole Valley Spartans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 last Wednesday.

Salesian College Preparatory saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Evan Vela, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double. Salvador Guerra also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Salesian College Preparatory's defeat dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Pinole Valley, they pushed their record up to 5-8-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Salesian College Preparatory will challenge Moreau Catholic at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Mariners' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Pride's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Pinole Valley, they will face off against Fairfield at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Spartans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 9.7 runs per game this season.
