Delone Catholic has gone 8-2 against Hanover recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Squires will take on the Nighthawks at 4:15 p.m. Delone Catholic has given up an average of 7.7 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Delone Catholic came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Bermudian Springs, falling 12-2. The Squires haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Delone Catholic saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was JD Sieg, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. That double was Sieg's first of the season.
Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous three contests, Hanover brought some dynamite into their most recent game. Everything went their way against York County Tech on Wednesday as they made off with a 15-3 win. That looming 15-3 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Nighthawks yet this season.
Chase Foreman tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits.
At the plate, Carver Alvarez was incredible, going 2-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one double. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tim Wagaman, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Hanover always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Delone Catholic now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Hanover, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-8.
Delone Catholic's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's contest. The Squires have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Hanover, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Delone Catholic continue to outrun the ball?
Delone Catholic took their win against Hanover in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 22-1 score. Will the Squires repeat their success, or do the Nighthawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
