The Jones Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the Maine West Warriors at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Jones' victory against Horizon Science Academy McKinley Park wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Eagles narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Hawks 3-2. The victory was some much needed relief for the Eagles as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Meghan Pierce spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on two hits and racked up 18 Ks. Those 18 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
At the plate, Lucy Paskiewicz was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Delaney Treccia, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Maine West). They blew past Maine East 20-0 on Thursday. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Blue Demons recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.
OSHINSKI AMANDA was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. AMANDA was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-4. She also put up two runs, which were her first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on BROOKE MATTSON, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. KARA LINDENMUTH was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and two RBI.
Maine West always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Maine West's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-5. As for Jones, the win was their first on the road, bumping their record up to 2-7.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Jones has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Maine West struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
