The Ashley Ridge Swamp Foxes fought the good fight in their overtime contest against the Pinewood Prep Panthers on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Panthers 39-35. Ashley Ridge's defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Despite the loss, Ashley Ridge saw an underclassman step up: Tre Green scored 18 points along with three steals. Jahlil Hope was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 11 rebounds.
Pinewood Prep's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Za?Qari Heath, who scored nine points along with ten rebounds and three blocks. Another player making a difference was Michael Jones, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds.
Ashley Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Pinewood Prep, their win bumped their record up to 16-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ashley Ridge won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Cane Bay at 8:30 p.m. on January 16th. Cane Bay is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for Pinewood Prep, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Palmetto Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on January 17th. Palmetto Christian Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 264th, while Pinewood Prep is ranked 60th).
