Meanwhile, Puckett waltzed into their match on Monday with five straight wins... but they left with six. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits. Murphy has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Brooke Shivers was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double.
Puckett pushed their record up to 14-6-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Raleigh, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-14-1.
