Dominic Steineke made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 16 over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2025. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Robby Hirsch and Isaac Swanson did most of the damage at the plate: Hirsch went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Swanson went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits Swanson has posted since back in April of 2025.
Chandler Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Miami, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They never let Gilbert Classical Academy get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Friday. That ten-run margin sets a new team best for the Vandals this season.
Like Chandler Prep, Miami also got a great game from a two-way player: Ethan Guthrey. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Guthrey has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Miami let Alex Doss and Mathew Zamora run wild. Doss got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Zamora went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. That RBI was Doss' first of the season. Sebastian Montano was another key player, earning two RBI, one run, and one stolen base.
Miami's win bumped their record up to 5-8. As for Chandler Prep, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Chandler Prep has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Miami struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Chandler Prep's way against Miami in their previous meeting back in March of 2025, as Chandler Prep made off with a 14-1 win. Will the Titans repeat their success, or do the Vandals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
