The Borden Braves will face off against the Lanesville Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Lanesville will be up against a hot Borden team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Braves never let Austin get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Braves, who have now won seven matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Garrett Schmidt made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Wyatt Martel looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Schmidt wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Michael McVoy, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI. What's more, McVoy posted two hits, the most he's had since back in April.
Borden kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.
Lanesville came out on top against Christian Academy on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run third inning. The Eagles put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 11-1 win. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won nine in a row.
Jaxson Payne was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Lanesville's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-9 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Dayton Campbell, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI.
Borden's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-6. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Lanesville, their win bumped their record up to 7-9.
Everything went Borden's way against Lanesville when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Borden made off with a 19-2 victory. Do the Braves have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
