On Tuesday, The Maranacook Black Bears faced the Dirigo Cougars in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Maranacook came out on top against Dirigo by a score of 40-28. Winning may never get old, but Maranacook sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Despite the loss, Dirigo saw an underclassman step up: Hudson Lufkin rushed for 115 yards and three touchdowns, and also threw for 215 yards and a touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathaniel Wainwright, who picked up 100 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Maranacook is on the road again on Saturday and play against Old Orchard Beach at 1:00 p.m. on November 4th. Old Orchard Beach knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine matches -- so hopefully Maranacook likes a good challenge. Dirigo does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
