Baseball Game Preview: Xavier Prep Saints vs. Palm Desert Aztecs

For the second straight game, Xavier Prep will face off against Palm Desert. The Saints will challenge the Aztecs at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Xavier Prep's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Palm Desert's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Last Tuesday, Xavier Prep came up short against Palm Desert and fell 7-2. The defeat continues a trend for the Saints in their meetings with the Aztecs: they've now lost three in a row.

For Palm Desert's part, Mateo Harvey-Olivo and Sebastian Morales did most of the damage at the plate: Harvey-Olivo scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Morales scored a run while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Morales a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Parker Gladish, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Palm Desert is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Xavier Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 9-9.
