After flying high against the Shonto Prep Grizzlies last Monday, the Seligman Antelopes came back down to earth. Seligman took a 89-76 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Yeti on Wednesday. Seligman has struggled against the Yeti recently, as their game on Wednesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Seligman's loss came despite strong showings from Carmelo Manakaja and Montae Walker. Manakaja dropped a double-double on 43 points and ten rebounds, while Walker scored 27 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. Walker has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 22 times he's played.
It was another big night for Jack Engelthaler, who shot 7-for-16 from deep and dropped a double-double on 46 points and 17 rebounds for Basis. Engelthaler is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last 16 games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Quiroz, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds.
Seligman has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-15 record this season. As for Basis, their victory was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-5.
Seligman does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Basis will be playing at home against the Vikings at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Arizona (Williams is ranked 240th, while the Yeti are ranked 229th).
