Rich Township hadn't done well against Thornton recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Raptors managed a 49-44 win over the Wildcats. The Raptors' victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Thornton's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Deandre Higgs, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Higgs is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last three games he's played. Montana Fontanez also deserves some recognition as he posted his first blocks of the season.

Rich Township's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Thornton, they dropped their record down to 1-3 with the defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Rich Township will face off against St. Laurence at 9:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Raptors will need to watch out since the Vikings have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Thornton, they will head out on the road to challenge Kankakee at 6:30 p.m. on the 12th.
