The Shoshoni Wranglers put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They breezed by Meeteetse at home to the tune of 51-18. Shoshoni's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Shoshoni got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Abigail Jennings out in front who scored nine points along with eight steals. Those eight steals set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Donelson, who scored seven points along with eight steals and five assists.
Meeteetse's loss came despite strong showings from Kaylin Bass and Kayla Horsen. Bass scored six points along with ten rebounds and four steals, while Horsen scored eight points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. Horsen scored a full 44.4% of Meeteetse's points, the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Even though they lost, Meeteetse were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Shoshoni's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-0. As for Meeteetse, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Shoshoni will face off against Big Piney at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Big Piney will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Wyoming Rankings (they are ranked 61st, while Shoshoni is ranked 20th). Meeteetse will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Kaycee at 12:30 p.m. on January 6, 2024. Kaycee comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
