Two dominant backs in Isaiah Dewitt and Jameson Crawford are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Tri Titans will face off against the Knightstown Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Tri is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 47 points per game this season.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Tri and Winchester Community meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Titans took a 22-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Golden Falcons. The contest marked the Titans' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Despite the defeat, Tri had strong showings from Cooper Engle, who rushed for 74 yards and one touchdown on only eight carries, and Masyn Chalfant, who rushed for 65 yards.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Knightstown). They blew past Cambridge City Lincoln, posting an 89-0 victory. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
Knightstown's win came from a few key players Tri will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Bryor Carmichael, who threw for 174 yards and four TDs while completing 75% of his passes. What's more, he racked up 156.3 passer rating, the most he's had since back in September of 2024. Knightstown's leading receiver Brody Willard was Carmichael's top target yet again, picking up 91 receiving yards and three scores.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Knightstown proved: they limited Cambridge City Lincoln to a paltry -0.9 yards per carry. The team can thank Alex Muir for the heroic effort on defense: he. Knightstown didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 14.5.
Special teams was a major factor in the game for Knightstown, racking up 23 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Muir, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
Knightstown has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.8 points over those games. As for Tri, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.
Friday's contest might be decided in the trenches. Tri has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 309.8 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Knightstown, though, as they've been averaging only 89 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?
Tri strolled past Knightstown in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a score of 64-46. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Titans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
