McLean County had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They walked away with a 10-5 victory over the Hopkinsville Tigers on Monday. The win was nothing new for the Cougars as they're now sitting on six straight dating back to last season.
Corbin Martin was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-4. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.
Martin wasn't the only one making solid contact as eight players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Layden Bozarth, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Hayden Hudson was another, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
McLean County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hopkinsville only managed six hits.
