The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Marshall Academy in their matchups with Battle Creek Academy: they've now lost six in a row.
Marshall Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Amiah Poindexter, who scored four points along with four steals, and Malia Taylor who scored four points along with four steals.
Battle Creek Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Olivia Keller led the charge by dropping a double-double on 18 points and 27 rebounds. Keller is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Sofia Keller, who scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Marshall Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Battle Creek Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.
Marshall Academy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against St. Philip Catholic Central at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th. St. Philip Catholic Central is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak. As for Battle Creek Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge Will Carleton Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Will Carleton Academy comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last nine games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
