The Osborne Cardinals lost to the Kennesaw Mountain Mustangs back in January, but the Osborne Cardinals didn't allow the Kennesaw Mountain Mustangs the same satisfaction on Friday. Osborne took down the Mustangs 63-49. Given Osborne's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 145th, while the Mustangs are ranked 335th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hakeem Weems continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, almost dropping a double-double on 20 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jayvion Nurse, who scored eight points along with six assists.
Osborne's win bumped their record up to 6-13. As for Kennesaw Mountain, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-17.
Osborne won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on January 27th. Sandy Creek is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road. As for Kennesaw Mountain, they will take on the Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Walton knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully the Mustangs like a good challenge.
