The Church Point Bears will head out on the road to face off against the Northwest Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Church Point knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four games -- so hopefully Northwest likes a good challenge.
Two Fridays ago, Church Point humbled Port Barre with a 50-12 victory.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Northwest ultimately got the result they hoped for two Fridays ago. They skirted past Iota 37-35. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Ja'Vain Reese continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 244 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 8.1 yards per carry. Craig Malveaux also helped out as he racked up 119 rushing yards.
Northwest's defensive line stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Leading the way was Davon Thibodeaux and his two sacks.
Their wins bumped Church Point to 3-3 and Northwest to 4-2.
Everything came up roses for Church Point against Northwest when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 50-8 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Church Point since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
