Electra extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to eight on Monday, dropping them down to 0-3. They fell 19-15 to the Chico Dragons. That's two games in a row now that the Tigers have lost by exactly four runs.
Brindel Breeding was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Breeding was also big at the plate, getting on base in five of his six plate appearances with one run.
In other batting news, Brayden Huffstutler was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in five of his six plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Cayden Curry, who got on base in four of his six plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
As for Chico, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 2-3 record. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Like Electra, Chico also got a great game from a two-way player: Emiliano Ledesma. On the mound, he tossed 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Ledesma was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Talon Smith was excellent, going a perfect 5-for-5 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and one triple. Those five hits gave him a new career-high. Landon Cuevas was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Electra will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Windthorst at 5:00 p.m. on the 20th. As for Chico, they will welcome Archer City at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
