The Brush Beetdiggers were the 35-31 winner over the Sterling Tigers when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Brush fell 44-34 to Sterling on Tuesday.
Despite the loss, Brush had strong showings from Karime Castillo, who scored ten points along with five steals, and Sarah Becker, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds. Those ten points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Michelle Headley, who scored five points along with 13 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Brush were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Brush's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Sterling, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 3-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brush's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Resurrection Christian at 6:00 p.m. on December 21st. Resurrection Christian presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Brush in Colorado (Resurrection Christian is ranked 28th, while Brush is ranked 185th). Sterling will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Liberty Common at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2024.
