Shikellamy has been on the road for two straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on The Mount Carmel RED TORNADOES at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Friday, Shikellamy earned a 35-28 win over Bloomsburg.
Shikellamy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Thomas Pollock out in front who picked up 87 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Pollock was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 62 yards. Another player making a difference was Brody Rebuck, who threw for 181 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Mount Carmel had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 48 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They walked away with a 42-30 victory over Southern Columbia Area. Mount Carmel pushed the score to 42-22 by the end of the third, a deficit Southern Columbia Area cut but never quite recovered from.
Mount Carmel's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Luke Blessing, who rushed for 146 yards and three touchdowns, and also caught a touchdown. Blessing is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last four games he's played. Cole Spears was another key contributor, throwing for 336 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.6 yards per attempt.
Shikellamy's victory pushed their record up to 2-6, while Mount Carmel's bumped their own up to the opposite: 6-2.
Shikellamy suffered a grim 42-20 defeat to Mount Carmel in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Will Shikellamy have more luck at home instead of on the road?
