The Foley Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their tenth straight loss. They took a hard 58-41 fall against West Florida. Foley lost against West Florida in their previous head to head back in November of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 64-53 score last time.
Several Lions players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was EJ Watts, who scored eight points along with five steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Ty Hunter, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds.
West Florida's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Dominick Nicholson, who scored 13 points. Amir Young was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Foley bumped their record down to 1-22 with that loss, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. As for West Florida, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-7.
Foley won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Fairhope at 7:30 p.m. on January 12th. Fairhope presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Foley in Alabama (Fairhope is ranked 22nd, while Foley is ranked 383rd).
