Softball Recap: Lumen Christi Catholic Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Lumen Christi Catholic entered their tilt with Michigan Center on Thursday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They blew past the Cardinals 11-1. Considering the Titans have won 12 contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Ollie Powers was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Powers was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Ollie Dalton was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bree Okoniewski, who went 2-for-4 with four runs and one double.

Lumen Christi Catholic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .458. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.

Lumen Christi Catholic's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-7. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Michigan Center, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lumen Christi Catholic will venture away from home to take on Springport at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Michigan Center, they will challenge Stockbridge at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
