The Stockdale Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell 55-45 to Frontier. While losing is never fun, Stockdale can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 536th, while the Titans are ranked 253rd).
Frontier's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Zach Garnett led the charge by scoring 17 points along with five rebounds. Garnett has been hot recently, having posted 17 or more points the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Logan Frisch, who scored 11 points along with eight assists.
Stockdale has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-13 record this season. As for Frontier, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 20-6.
Stockdale will head out on the road to take on the Falcons at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Independence knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three games -- so hopefully the Mustangs like a good challenge. As for Frontier, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Patriots at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Liberty's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matchups.
