The West Springfield Terriers will head out to challenge the Putnam Vo-Tech Beavers at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. Putnam Vo-Tech took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on West Springfield, who comes in off a win.
Last Tuesday, West Springfield made easy work of Frontier Regional and carried off a 3-0 win. The Terriers haven't had any issues with the Red Hawks recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.
The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-18, 25-13.
West Springfield's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Prasanta Bhandari, who had 34 assists. Alexsandr Bak was another key player, getting seven kills, four digs, and two aces.
West Springfield was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 11 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Frontier Regional only served three aces.
Meanwhile, Putnam Vo-Tech was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Westfield, falling 3-0.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-10, 25-12.
Putnam Vo-Tech's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for West Springfield, they pushed their record up to 3-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.
Everything went West Springfield's way against Putnam Vo-Tech when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as West Springfield made off with a 3-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Terriers since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
