Baseball Recap: Tolar Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

Tolar came tearing into Tuesday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 15-10 win over the Dublin Lions. That's more bragging rights for the Rattlers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Kallen Mitchell and Cutter Cain made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Mitchell pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Cain struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). Mitchell has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. At bat, Mitchell scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of his five plate appearances, while Cain scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4. Cain is becoming a predictor of Tolar's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 5-10 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Talan Culberson was incredible, scoring five runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. He has become a key player for Tolar: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-11 otherwise. Lucas Mills was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Tolar's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-11. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Dublin, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 12 of their last 13 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.

Tolar will have a chance to go back-to-back against Dublin: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
