The Mansfield Summit Jaguars came tearing into Friday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 34 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 28-21 win over Ennis. For Mansfield Summit, this counts as revenge for the 30-27 loss Ennis walked away with the last time they faced one another back in November of 2022.
Amare Burgess was his usual excellent self, rushing for 148 yards and two touchdowns. Burgess has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Davonte Johnson, who rushed for 98 yards on only 11 carries.
Despite the loss, Ennis still got an impressive performance from WONDAME DAVIS, who rushed for 96 yards and two touchdowns.
Mansfield Summit is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Ennis, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.
Mansfield Summit will square off against Seagoville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Seagoville will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 387th, while Mansfield Summit is ranked 128th). As for Ennis, they will head out on the road to face off against Kimball at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Kimball will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
