The Freedom Patriots will take on the Legacy Charter Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
If Freedom beats Legacy Charter with eight runs on Friday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Patriots came out on top against Davenport by a score of 8-4 on Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Patriots.
Brandon Early looked comfortable as he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February.
At the plate, Wandy Soto was excellent, scoring a run while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Nolan Kliegl, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, Legacy Charter had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by an 11-3 margin over the Ducks. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by six runs or more this season.
Ryan Rushing spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jake Threadgill, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Wyatt Gorby, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.
Legacy Charter was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cornerstone Charter Academy only posted a batting average of .214.
Legacy Charter's win bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Freedom, their victory bumped their record up to 7-13.
