It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the El Cajon Valley Braves can now relate to. Their tough 38-16 loss to Sweetwater on Friday might stick with them for a while. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for El Cajon Valley in their matchups with Sweetwater: they've now lost three in a row.
When it comes to explaining why El Cajon Valley lost, one person who can't be blamed is Massih Ehsan. Despite the final result, he rushed for 77 yards and a touchdown.
Xzavier Crews went supernova for Sweetwater, rushing for 184 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.2 yards per carry. Izell Wright also helped out as he racked up 159 rushing yards.
El Cajon Valley's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 5-7. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 10.0 points per game. As for Sweetwater, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-6 record this season.
El Cajon Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Sweetwater will take on Vincent Memorial at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Vincent Memorial is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
