Kent-Meridian and Decatur are an even 3-3 against one another since October of 2015, but not for long. The Kent-Meridian Royals will look to defend their home field on Saturday against the Decatur Golden Gators at 1:00 p.m. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Kent-Meridian got themselves on the board against Jefferson, but Jefferson never followed suit. They blew past the Raiders, posting a 34-0 victory at home.
Meanwhile, Decatur had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They took down Kentwood 30-14.
It was another big night for Nehemiah Washington, who rushed for 139 yards and two touchdowns. Washington is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played.
Kent-Meridian's win on Friday bumped their record up to 3-4. Decatur has been no stranger to the win column this season, as they've started out with wins in six of their first seven games, giving them a 6-1 record.
Kent-Meridian might still be hurting after the 41-19 loss they got from Decatur in their previous meeting back in November of 2022. Can Kent-Meridian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
