The Sissonville Indians will take on the Avonworth Antelopes at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Monday, Sissonville was able to grind out a solid victory over Moore Catholic, taking the game 5-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Indians.
Eli Simonton made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. Simonton was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Nathaniel Simonton was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-1. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Avonworth). Their pitcher stepped up to hand Calhoun Academy a 15-0 shutout on Monday. The Antelopes not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 29, 2024.
Declan Ehrin looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.
On the hitting side, Avonworth got a massive performance out of Jack Dolan, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Michael Libbon was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Avonworth always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .706. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.
Avonworth now has a winning record of 2-1-1. As for Sissonville, their record now sits at 2-0.
