The Brookhaven Panthers will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Florence Eagles at 7:30 p.m. Brookhaven has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 308 points over their last five games.
Last Tuesday, Brookhaven strolled past the Bulldogs with points to spare, taking the game 57-38.
Jaylen Haliburton and Kordell Collins were among the main playmakers for Brookhaven as the former scored 14 points along with eight steals and the latter almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Collins has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Nicholas Gamble, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Meanwhile, Florence entered their tilt with the Jaguars with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Florence enjoyed a cozy 68-49 victory over the Jaguars on Tuesday. Given Florence's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 65th, while the Jaguars are ranked 227th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Brookhaven is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. As for Florence, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 15-11.
Brookhaven skirted past the Eagles 69-66 when the teams last played two weeks ago. Will Brookhaven repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
