The Basis Yeti will take on the Wingate Bears in a holiday battle at 3:00 p.m. on Friday at. Basis will be strutting in after a win while Wingate will be coming in after a defeat.
Basis scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They breezed by Music Mountain at home to the tune of 79-41. Basis might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won six matches by 20 points or more this season.
Jack Engelthaler was his usual excellent self, shooting 7-for-14 from downtown and dropping a double-double on 39 points and 14 rebounds. The match was his ninth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Daniel Quiroz, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 15 rebounds.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Wingate's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. Their tough 61-35 defeat to Hot Springs might stick with them for a while. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Wingate in their matchups with Hot Springs: they've now lost five in a row.
Basis pushed their record up to 8-2 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 78.3 points per game. As for Wingate, their loss dropped their record down to 3-1.
