Monsignor Farrell (Staten Island, N.Y.) came into Saturday's contest ranked No. 10 in New York, but was stunned by
St. Anthony's (Melville, N.Y.), 41-21. St. Anthony's was ranked at No. 21 in the MaxPreps Freeman Rankings for New York coming into the week.
After taking the lead on a passing touchdown in the first quarter, the Friars led 28-7 at the half.
St. Anthony's expanded its lead to 28 points entering the fourth quarter. SA scored once in the quarter on a touchdown pass by
Greg Galligan.
The Melville school also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 41-26.
The loss comes after Monsignor Farrell defeated Xavier 28-7 last week. The win brought St. Anthony's' winning streak to three games. The loss broke Monsignor Farrell's three-game winning streak.
St. Anthony's (3-1) will play a Catholic game against Iona Prep next week, while Monsignor Farrell (3-1) will take on Archbishop Stepinac also in a Catholic game.
